These terms apply when you download Screbly, use it, or buy a Pro licence. They are written to be read, not to be skimmed past — if anything here is unclear, email support@screbly.in and ask before you subscribe.
Screbly is made and operated by Raja Parivesh, an independent software developer based in India (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at support@screbly.in.
Payments are not handled by us. Dodo Payments is the merchant of record for every Screbly purchase. That means Dodo takes the payment, issues the invoice, and handles sales tax, VAT or GST for your country. Your payment transaction is with Dodo and is also subject to Dodo’s own terms; the licence to use Screbly is granted by us under these terms.
By installing or using Screbly, or by starting a trial or subscription, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
You must be at least 18 years old, or have the consent of a parent or guardian, to buy a licence. If you are subscribing on behalf of a company, you confirm you are allowed to agree to these terms for it.
Screbly is a desktop application for macOS and Windows that draws a transparent annotation layer over your screen, with a floating toolbar for pen, shapes, text and whiteboard modes.
There are two tiers. Basic is free and always will be: pen, eraser, clear, brush size, undo and one colour slot. Pro is paid and adds the remaining tools. The exact feature split is described on screbly.in and may change as the app develops.
A Pro subscription gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Screbly for your own work, personal or commercial, for as long as the subscription is active. You are licensing the software, not buying it; we keep all intellectual property in it.
Unless you have bought additional seats, one licence activates on one computer. Your licence key locks to that machine the first time you activate it.
Reverse engineering that your local law expressly permits regardless of contract remains permitted.
All paid plans start with a 7-day free trial. You give card details at checkout but nothing is charged until the trial ends. Your licence key is emailed to you immediately, so you can use every Pro feature from day one.
If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the subscription converts automatically to a paid plan and the first charge is taken on day 8. The trial is intended as one trial per customer.
Subscribing needs a Screbly account, because your licence is issued to the email address you sign in with and that is where the key is sent. Checkout itself is hosted by Dodo Payments — your card details are entered on Dodo’s page and never reach us.
Prices are shown at checkout in the currency that applies to your region, and that is the price that binds. We publish regional pricing: lower prices in India reflect local purchasing power. Taxes are calculated and collected by Dodo Payments based on where you are.
Subscriptions renew automatically — monthly or annually, matching the plan you chose — until you cancel. Each renewal is charged at the price then in force for your plan. If we change the price of your plan, we will tell you by email before it applies to you, and it will only take effect at a renewal, never mid-period.
If a renewal payment fails, Dodo will retry your card. Your Pro features keep working for a short grace period while that happens. If payment still does not succeed, the licence stops granting Pro.
You can cancel at any time, with no cancellation fee and without talking to anybody. Open Screbly → Settings → Subscription → Manage Subscription, which opens the billing portal hosted by Dodo. You can also email support@screbly.in and we will do it for you.
Cancelling during the trial means you are never charged, and you keep Pro until the day the trial would have ended. Cancelling a paid plan stops future charges; you keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for. Either way the app shows you the exact date your access runs to. We do not pro-rate or refund the unused part of a period you cancel in the middle of.
You are charged nothing during the 7-day free trial, and the trial is how you decide whether Screbly works for you. Because you get to try the whole product before paying anything, a billing period that has already started is not refunded — and neither is a renewal. Cancel before a period begins and you are not charged for it; cancel during one and it runs to its end date.
The exceptions, which we will always honour:
How to ask: email support@screbly.in from the address you bought with, say what happened, and include the date of the charge. We reply within 24 hours on working days. Cancelling is separate and immediate — you do that yourself, as described in section 8, and you do not need our permission or a refund decision to stop future charges. Refunds, when agreed, are issued by Dodo Payments to your original payment method and can take a few days to appear.
Nothing in this section limits rights you have by law. If the consumer law where you live gives you a refund, withdrawal or cooling-off right — for example the 14-day right of withdrawal for digital content in the EU and UK — that right applies and overrides the paragraphs above.
A refund or a successful chargeback ends the licence: the key is revoked and Screbly returns to Basic.
Activation ties your key to a machine fingerprint derived from your computer’s hostname, platform and
architecture. If you activate on a second computer and your licence only covers one, you will see
Sharing limit reached.
If you replace your computer, or need to transfer your licence — because the old machine broke, was sold or was reinstalled — email support@screbly.in to request a device release. Device releases are currently handled manually and are normally processed within one working day.
The Deactivate License option inside the app signs this computer out locally; it does not release the device on our licensing server. Use it freely, but email us as well if you need the seat back.
Activation needs an internet connection. After that Screbly works offline, and re-checks your licence with our server roughly once a day.
Being offline does not cost you Pro: the signed licence Screbly stores keeps working until it expires. Pro is removed only when our server explicitly says the licence has been refunded, revoked or is invalid.
We do not promise any particular uptime for the licence server, and we are not liable for a temporary inability to activate caused by an outage, your network, or a third-party service we depend on. Tell us and we will sort it out.
We may revoke a licence, without a refund, if it is shared beyond what it covers, if the licence check is tampered with, if the payment is fraudulent or charged back, or if these terms are otherwise seriously breached. Where the situation allows it, we will contact you first.
We may also stop selling Screbly or discontinue it. If we do, we will not take further payments, and we will tell existing subscribers by email before their next renewal.
An active subscription includes the updates we release during it. We may add, change or remove features, and we may stop supporting old operating system versions, as the platforms we build on move forward. We will not remove a Pro feature that is central to the product without telling subscribers.
Screbly collects no analytics, no usage data and no diagnostics. What you draw never leaves your computer. We store the minimum needed to run licensing: your email address, licence key, and the device fingerprints it is activated on. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
On macOS, the snapshot feature needs Screen Recording permission. You grant that to the app through macOS System Settings, and macOS — not Screbly — controls it. Screbly uses it only when you take a snapshot.
We rely on a small number of service providers to run the licensing side: Dodo Payments for payments, Supabase for the licence database, Resend for licence emails, and Google Cloud for hosting.
Screbly is provided as is. We work hard on it, but we cannot promise it is free of bugs, or that it will behave identically on every operating system version, application, monitor arrangement or display configuration.
One known limitation, which we would rather you heard from us than discovered after paying: on macOS, the annotation overlay may not appear over certain applications when they are running in full-screen mode. Compatibility can vary by application and display configuration. Use the free trial to check Screbly against the applications you actually present with.
To the extent the law allows, we exclude all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Screbly is not designed for use where a failure could cause injury, or loss of life or property.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data or business interruption, arising out of your use of Screbly.
Our total liability for any claim relating to Screbly is limited to the amount you actually paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Some countries do not allow these exclusions. Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded, and nothing here limits your non-waivable rights as a consumer.
We sell internationally. You may not use Screbly, or pay for it, if doing so would breach applicable export control or sanctions law.
We may update these terms. The current version always lives at screbly.in/terms.html with the date it was last changed at the top. If a change materially affects a subscriber, we will email them before it takes effect, and it will apply from their next renewal. Continuing to use Screbly after a change means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over disputes arising from them. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, or your right to bring a claim in your local courts where that law gives it to you.
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
Questions about these terms, your licence, a charge, or anything else: support@screbly.in. We reply within 24 hours on working days.
If you are not satisfied with the answer, reply saying so and ask for it to be treated as a complaint. Complaints are handled by Raja Parivesh, who operates Screbly, at the same address. We will acknowledge a complaint within 48 hours and aim to resolve it within 15 days of receiving it. Our postal address is available on request to that email.
For anything to do with a payment, an invoice, a tax receipt or a chargeback, you can also contact Dodo Payments directly as the merchant of record for your purchase.
